…there is fire! The steel stacks of Bethlehem plays the lead role in this work. The imaginary scene has the US Steel Co. busy at work with smoke billowing out everywhere. The “smoke” is also from the steam-powered locomotive connecting the steel mill to the rest of the world. The brown hue of the entire piece serves perhaps as a prophesy of the future, when all the steel turns to rust and the smoke ceases.
