As daylight fades on another day and the lamps and chandeliers on the mysterious Mont St. Michel come to life in preparation for the night, the colors of the sky break apart, as if unable to decide what color should lead and how to present itself. This work is clearly an homage to Paul Cezanne and other early cubists, and yet, the tribute is incomplete. The wet earth in the foreground, as if in conscious rebellion, refuses to reflect the fragmented sky, but instead, follows the water and its amphibious pattern.
